Terms of use
Last updated October 6, 2026
In short: Aha Explainer is a free, personal project. Use the explainers to learn and teach. If you send us an idea or an explainer, we are free to use it, and free to say no. Explainers can contain mistakes, so don't rely on them for anything important. These short notes don't replace the full terms below.
1. Who we are
Aha Explainer (ahaexplainer.com, "the site") is run by Piotr Wilczek, a private individual based in Poland ("we", "us"). There is no company behind it. You can reach us at contact@ahaexplainer.com.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. These terms work together with our privacy policy, cookie policy and content policy.
2. The service
The site is a free catalog of interactive explainers. Some features described here, such as requesting an explainer or submitting one through our AI assistant, may not be available yet; these terms apply to them once they are. We may change, pause or shut down any part of the site at any time, without notice, and we don't promise that any feature or explainer will stay available.
3. Using the explainers
- You may use the explainers for personal learning and for teaching, including showing them in class and linking to them from course materials.
- Explainers belong to their authors or are used under licence. The site's design, name and text belong to us. Unless an explainer says otherwise, you may not copy, republish or sell explainers or the site's content without permission.
- Linking to any page on the site is welcome.
4. Accuracy and no professional advice
Explainers simplify ideas so they are easier to grasp. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and some are created with the help of AI tools. They are for education and curiosity only and are not professional advice (medical, legal, financial, engineering or otherwise). Please check anything important with a reliable source. If you spot a mistake, tell us at contact@ahaexplainer.com.
5. Requesting an explainer
- Ideas and requests you send are not confidential. Please don't include personal information about yourself or others.
- We are not obliged to act on a request, reply to it, or explain why we didn't.
- You give us permission to use your request freely, for example to build an explainer on the topic, without payment or credit. Someone else may have had the same idea; if we publish something similar, it doesn't mean we used yours.
6. Submitting an explainer
When you submit an explainer, including any code, text, images or metadata ("your submission"):
- Age. You must be at least 16, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
- You keep ownership. You keep the copyright in your submission.
- You give us a licence. You grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, publish and distribute your submission, on the site and in its public source code repository, and to let our service providers do the same on our behalf. "Adapt" covers things like fixing bugs, improving accessibility, editing the title, description and tags, making a thumbnail, and fitting the explainer to the site's format. The licence lasts while your submission is on the site and for a reasonable time after removal, so we can retire it from backups and caches.
- Your promises. You confirm that you have the right to submit it and to grant this licence; that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights or break any law; that it contains no malware, tracking or hidden behaviour; and that it follows our content policy.
- Credit. If we publish your submission, we credit you by the name and contact link you give us. Both are public.
- No obligation to publish. We curate the catalog and decide what to publish. We may decline, delay, edit or later remove any submission as described in the content policy. Submitting doesn't create a partnership, employment or any right to payment.
- Removal at your request. You can ask us to take your published explainer down by writing to contact@ahaexplainer.com. We will remove it from the site within a reasonable time. Copies may remain for a while in backups, in the history of the public source repository, and in copies made by others while it was public.
7. Our AI assistant
Some features let you talk to an AI assistant, for example to request or submit explainers. You are talking to software, not a person. Its replies may be inaccurate. Nothing the assistant says is a promise or commitment by us: it cannot agree to publish your explainer, pay you, or change these terms. Conversations are stored and may be reviewed, as described in the privacy policy.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, or use the site to infringe anyone's rights;
- upload or link to malware, or try to attack, probe, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its providers;
- send spam or automated bulk requests, or get around rate limits or other restrictions;
- try to make the AI assistant ignore its instructions, reveal confidential information, or produce content that breaks the content policy;
- pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your connection with anyone;
- submit anything our content policy doesn't allow.
If you break these terms, we may reject or remove your content, block your access to request or submission features, and report illegal activity to the authorities.
9. Third-party links
Explainers and pages may link to other websites. We don't control them and are not responsible for them.
10. No warranty
The site is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, the explainers, or the AI assistant, including lost data, lost profits, or indirect damage. Nothing in these terms limits liability for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all rights that mandatory law in your country gives you.
12. Responsibility for your content
You are responsible for what you submit. If someone makes a claim against us because your submission infringed their rights or broke the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim, to the extent the law allows.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant and we have a way to reach you (for example, you submitted an explainer), we will try to let you know. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Poland. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. Otherwise, disputes go to the competent courts in Poland. If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
15. Contact
